Having been established 62 years ago, TPA Primary has the proud heritage of being one of the well established schools in the northern suburbs of Pietermaritzburg. Situated in Aintree Road in Newholmes, the school is set in a centrally located area with easy access by means of Public transport and caters for approximately 550 learners.
T.P.A Primary is laid out on large, well maintained grounds with security fencing and controlled access to the premises. Learners feel secure in this environment.
The school offers instruction from Grade R to Grade 7 through the medium of english. Other languages offered are Afrikaans and either Hindi, Tamil or Arabic.
Zulu, as a second additional language, has been introduced from year 2007. In addition to the curriculum of public schools, the school offers extensive co-curricular and extra curricular programmes.
These include a wide range of sporting activities (soccer, netball, cricket, volleyball, athletics, T-Ball/Pitch ball, chess and cross country) as well as exposure to other educational oppurtunities such as excursions, olympiads, challenges, exhibitions etc.
The school also has a well-established computer centre. Grade R Learners are made to feel at home by an experienced Grade R Educator. They also enjoy a fenced paddock area in which they engage in outdoor activities.
After-care facilities are envisaged should there be an adequate demand.
Our school was launched as Health Promoting School in 2007.
